Day one, England. There's going to be a kind of philosophical or ontological problem here with counting days since we started traveling Friday night. But as I am a software engineer (for the time being at least), I will apply our ancient ways and call that Day zero.
On day zero we got on the plane and flew to London Heathrow. The flight was great, since we were in first class (virgin atlantic calls it "upper class" which makes me feel even weirder about that but wev). The seats basically folded into very narrow, hard beds. Not the most comfortable bed I've ever been in, but after a reasonably good dinner and a cocktail (I won't say free because we had to pay for the tickets, but included), I could settle in. All my pre-planning for media stuff in flight was not useful (at least not this leg) as I slept most of the way.
I did watch Weird: the Al Yankovic Story, and I will say two things about it. One: it may have been the best movie I have ever seen. Two: there is a lot I did not know about Al Yankovic's life.
Anyway, day zero was fine. I didn't have to cook, and I feel like I may never want to fly coach again. Ofc I can't really afford to do this often, so we'll see what happens.
Day one is a transient day. We lost eight hours of it due to time zone shenanigans, and we mainly just need to ride a bus, which is crowded and I'm currently listening to someone have a video call in a language I don't speak. Pretty sure it's arabic- not sure if it would be more or less annoying if I understood the conversation. At least he isn't wearing headphones so I can hear both sides. I guess that's why they call it a Coach. And here I was saying I'd never ride coach again. Once we get off the bus, it will be: hotel at London Stanstead airport and early to bed to try and conquer jetlag. Tomorrow early will be our flight to fez.
On RyanAir, which does not have first class.
